Searching for Companies
You can use the Reach Soft Marketing Software to search for companies that you can then contact using the merge facilities. When you perform a search you enter information to select companies in fields in the Enter Search Criteria section of the desktop. The information that you enter into these fields defines your search criteria which is then used to search the RMS database. You can combine as many of these fields as required to produce the
search results you want.
You can also click on the map of Ireland to select a specific county and display the county name in the Enter Search Criteria section. The name of the county is displayed above the map as you move the cursor.
To search for companies:
- Click the New Search button in the RMS toolbar. The cursor moves to the Name field in the Enter Search Criteria section of the desktop.
- Enter the search criteria using the following fields : Name, Address, County, Area code, Category, Subcategory, Keyword, Employees.
You can use as many or few of these fields as you require to search the RMS database for the companies you want. You must enter criteria at least one field.
- Click on the GO button to start and then view the search results.
Note: If you change your mind about the search criteria you want to use, click the Reset Button. All the Enter Search Criteria fields are cleared and the cursor moves to the Name field ready for you to enter a new set of criteria.
Viewing search results
After you have performed a search for companies, the companies selected from the RMS database are displayed in the results list on the desktop. You can browse the list and then select companies you want to include in the direct mailing.
When you view the list:
- The total number of companies found matching your criteria are displayed in the status area at the bottom of the desktop.
- The companies are listed alphabetically.
- The information displayed for each company is: Company Name, Description, Address, Phone Number, Fax Number, Email Address, Contact Name, Website URL, Number of Employees.
To view search results:
You can view the list of companies using several methods: Scroll Bar, Locate Field, Description Column, Column Headings, Navigation Buttons.
You can combine any of these methods to find the companies that you require; eg you can type into the Locate Field and then click on a Column Heading, and then use the Navigation Buttons.
To select a company:
When you are viewing a list of companies after a search you can display further information about a company and then select a company for inclusion in a direct mailing.
- To display further details about a particular company click on the company in the list to highlight it. Information about the company is displayed in the company details section of the desktop.
- To add the company to a direct mailing, click on the check box in the selected column on the same line as the company. A tick appears in the box to indicate that it is selected. You can select as many companies in the list as you require.
- To add all companies in the list to a direct mailing click on selected column heading. A tick appears in all boxes to indicate that all companies are selected.
